The insights provided have proven invaluable in steering the author toward a more in-depth exploration and improvement of the subjects discussed in the book. These include the need for increased rigor, analysis, and insight in certain chapters, a desire for additional chapters to cover overlooked areas, and a request for more anecdotes to support arguments and suggestions to incorporate insights into my childhood or upbringing. The author has worked diligently to incorporate this feedback, resulting in the second edition of the book.

It tries to connect liberation history with a credible transition agenda. It moves beyond diagnosing Eritrea’s crisis and tries to outline a transition, reform, and reconstruction agenda across political, economic, social, cultural, and geopolitical spheres. Steering clear of partisanship, the author examines Eritrea’s ongoing crisis and demonstrates with evidence that the core problem is structural: a derailed political transition. Across twenty-one chapters, he explores key themes and supports the argument with comparative examples.
