It was a privilege to bring two recently published books by Semere Solomon—Renewing the Promise: A New Vision for Eritrea and ኤርትራ፡ ቀለስቲ ሓሳባት ንሕውየት ሃገር—to life before a live audience at the Shaw/Watha T. Daniel Library in Washington, DC, on April 25th.

More than a book launch, this was a rich dialogue centered on the overarching

theme that unites both works: reconciling the unfulfilled aspirations of social justice with the enduring struggle to secure sovereignty and national unity. Together, the books critically examine pressing questions and evaluate developments across Eritrea's political, economic, social, cultural, and
geopolitical spheres. They also seek to clarify the key objectives tied to pre-
and post-system change, outline a framework for reconstruction, and establish the priorities that must guide the nation's path forward.

A sincere thank you to the event organizers, the DC Public Library for the platform, and the engaged audience whose thoughtful questions elevated the conversation.
